It’s easy to forget that when we read the Bible, we are reading an interpretation of an ancient language. A single decision by a single translator can determine entire theologies, or present a false image of a scriptural story.

He talks me through 7 ways in which the very first verse of the Bible, Genesis 1:1, may have been subject to mistranslation, or is unclear in its precise meaning. Our English rendering of this opening may fail to grasp the original meaning of the words.
